Desmond made his debut conducting the Youth Choir of the church he attended on national radio in Jamaica more than 20 years ago. Since then he has conducted several choirs internationally such as the Jamaica Vocal Ensemble, Jamaica's first professional classical choral ensemble, of which he was the Founder and Artistic Director and which also made its debut on national television, the Chancel Choir of the Unity East Christian Center in Brooklyn, New York and World of Harmony, a professional-quality non-denominational choir based in Los Angeles, California in works such as excerpts from Mendelssohn's Elijah, Haydn's Creation and Handel's Messiah. He has also taught chorus at the high school level in New York City. He is currently the Director of Worship of the St. Andrew's by-the-Sea United Methodist Church in San Clemente, California and the Director of the JazzReach Choir at the 32nd Street Magnet School in Los Angeles, California. He holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree (honors) in Management from the University of the West Indies, a Diploma (with distinction) in Singing and Certificates in Piano and Music Theory from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, United Kingdom and a Master of Music (Vocal Performance) degree from the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Music at the University of Southern California, studying with Professor Donald Brinegar and Dr. Jo-Michael Scheibe.
