Desmond made his debut conducting the Youth Choir of the Rollington Town SDA Church on national radio in Jamaica more than 20 years ago. Since then he has conducted several choirs internationally such as the Jamaica Vocal Ensemble, Jamaica's first professional classical choral ensemble, of which he was the Founder and Artistic Director and which also made its debut on national television, and World of Harmony, a professional choir based in New York City in works such as excerpts from Mendelssohn's Elijah, Haydn's Creation and Handel's Messiah. He has also taught chorus in public schools in New York City and Los Angeles, has worked as a Director of Music internationally and is currently the Director of Choral Activities at Penn State University Abington College as well as the Choir Director of the Bucks County SDA Church and the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church.
He holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree (honors) in Management from the University of the West Indies, a Diploma (with distinction) in Singing and Certificates in Piano and Music Theory from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, United Kingdom and a Master of Music (Vocal Performance) degree from the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College of the City University of New York as well as a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Conducting Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Southern Mississippi.
