Allan Laino has nine years of experience directing ensembles at various levels including high school, college, and community choirs. He directed choral programs at Highland High School, University High School, and Quartz Hill High School. He is currently the Assistant Director for the Sunday Night Singers.
He earned his M.F.A. in Choral Conducting from UC Irvine and was awarded the Diversity Fellowship Award for his research in Filipino music. He studied conducting with Joseph Huszti and Stephen Tucker.
As a singer, past directors have valued his keen ear, advanced sight-singing abilities, and the clarity and expressiveness of his voice. He is a versatile singer with roots in pop genres and advanced training in classical voice. Performance credits include the Sunday Night Singers, Men in Blaque, Charles Dickens Carolers, Norfolk Festival Chamber Choir, and the Pacific Chorale.
He is the tenor section leader at St. Mark's Episcopal Church and has served several churches churches throughout Southern California.
He earned his B.A. in Music (Vocal Performance) from UC Irvine where he was an Ann & Gordon Getty Music Scholar. He studied voice with Dr. Darryl Taylor and Dr. Steven Kronauer.
