Location: Texas, USA
I hold the Ph.D. in Music Education, University of Southern Mississippi, choral music emphasis/conducting/ voice; the M.M. in Music History/Conducting, East Texas State University (now Texas A&M at Commerce). I teach music at El Paso Community College, El Paso, Texas; conduct a church choir; and most recently, founded and I am the artistic director of the New Community Chorus El Paso. Recently I published a research article, "Late twentieth-century choral composition techniques: the use of a synthetic scale in a choral setting of Psalm 150, composed by Sir David Willcocks," published in the College Music Society South Central Chapter Newsletter, Autumn 2009.
I have studied with Sir David Willcocks for nine intensive summer choral symposia in Wisconsin and, most recently, New Hampshire. Summer 2010 was the tenth sumer to study with him. At ninety-one years young, Sir David is the best conductor/choral literature mentor with whom I have studied.
Personal note: the beautiful woman next to me is my wife Virgetta. We were married August 31st, 2008.
She gives my heart wings.
