I hold the Ph.D. in Music Education, University of Southern Mississippi; an M.M. in Music Education/Conducting, East Texas State University (now Texas A&M at Commerce).Recently I have taught music appreciation/voice/adult clsss piano at El Paso Community College, El Paso, Texas; have conducted a church choir, and have conducted a non-audition community chorus. Recently a research article,  "Late twentieth-century choral composition techniques: the use of a synthetic scale in a choral setting of Psalm 150, composed by Sir David Willcocks," was published in the College Music Society South Central Chapter Newsletter, Autumn 2009. Other research includes reviews of two scholarly books MENC handbook of research on music learning, vols. 1 and 2. Both reviews were published in issues of Music educators journal
I have studied with Sir David Willcocks for ten intensive summer choral symposia in Wisconsin and New Hampshire.
Research interests include voice ranges of children, designing a semester-long elementary music curriculum, classroom management, and attitudes of middle school choral students toward learning to sight-read choral music.
Personal note: the beautiful woman next to me is my wife Virgetta. We were married August 31st, 2008.
