CORO POLIFONICO TURRITANO

This year Coro Polifonico Turritano, founded in 1959, celebrates its 50th year of activity. Its first conduct­or and founder, Antonio Sanna, guided the choir for 37 years. Under the conduction of Luca Sannai since 1996, the choir reaffirmed its values with new and prestigious successes. Its artistic activity includes over a thousand concerts with a broad repertoire ranging from Gregorian Chant to contemporary authors, from works for choir and instruments to Sardinian folkloristic heritage.
It collected 49 prizes in choral competitions – nine 1st prizes out of them (in Arezzo, Gorizia, and To­losa). With the present conductor, the coir won three 1st prizes at Vittorio Veneto Choral Competition (2001 and 2002) and at Zagarolo National Competition (2005), as well as the second prize at the International Competition of Athens (2000). It participated to countless festivals in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, Russia, Czech Repubilc, Hungary, Slovakia, Greece, Belgium, Poland. It recorded for Radio Cologne (Germany) and RAI-TV. For Foné, it realized the following releases: the double CD «Coro Polifonico Tur­ritano», musics by G. P. da Palestrina (1991), winning Audio Records’ and “Choq de la musique”'s prizes; «Su Concordu Turritanu», popular songs of Sardinia (1996), reviewed by magazines Suono and Cd Classics; «Ave Maris Stella», medieval songs (2002), enclosed to the volume “The Torres Kingdom”. It participated to regional TV shows, and first performed in modern times the Cafaro’s “Stabat Mater” and the Dipiazza’s “Patriarchs’ Mass”. Recently, it carried out tournées in Europe performing Mozart's “Missa Brevis in B”, Dobrogosz's “Mass” and Anerio's “Dialogues”. The choir organized every year, since 1979, the Interna­tional Festival «Voci d’Europa», that offers monographic programs from every time and school with the sharing of most prestigious choirs.
