A Concert of Remembrance and Peace Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Ending of World War I

The Unity Choir will commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the ending of World War I as they present A Concert of Remembrance and Peace at 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 111 Ryerson Avenue, Newton, NJ. The concert will be directed by Henry Repp who will also accompany on the church’s three-manual pipe organ. The featured work will be Mass in Time of War by Franz Joseph Haydn. Timpanist will be Mark Westerfield. There will be several anthems including Wilhousky’s Battle Hymn of the Republic. Phillip Lid will sing If Christ Came Back, and Cassandra Lambros will join Mr. Repp in an organ/ violin duet. There will be a moment of silence as the church bells ring. The audience will join the chorus in the singing of God Bless America. The soloists will be soprano and violinist Cassandra Lambros, alto Emily Skilling, tenor John Burke, and bass David Young. The concert is free, but a free-will offering will be received. There is ample parking, and the church is handicapped accessible. Everyone is welcome, but especially our veterans. A reception will follow the concert.
