Caritas Chamber Chorale will present a series of concerts of sacred music for the benefit of Adorno Fathers’ African Mission, entitled Grace Abides. In the quest to recognize and welcome grace, this a cappella program centers on the holy act of worship. The luminous Palestrina Missa Brevis, complemented by choral works by more modern composers such as Bruckner and Arnesen, opens for us a pathway to grace.
The Missa Brevis forms the framework for the program, with each movement followed by a contemporary choral piece. The pairing of the ancient texts and music with modern words and tonalities is intended to inspire a unique awareness of the depth of grace found in prayer and music combined – no matter the era. Completing the program, Caritas Composer in Residence, Wayne Dietterick’s new arrangement of Amazing Grace allows us to recognize grace, not only in our worship, but all around us.
Dr. Mark A. Boyle serves as collaborator and guest conductor for these concerts. Boyle is Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Seton Hill University, Greensburg, PA and has been a presenter for several Caritas choir retreats. He is also an active tenor, poet, and composer, whose works are regularly performed.
The concert will be presented:
