The combined choirs of Joliet Junior College, the JJC Chamber Singers and the JJC Chorale, under the direction of Professor of Music Philip Spencer, will present a Choral Masterworks Concert on Sunday, April 30 at 3 p.m. in the Fine Arts Theatre on the Main Campus.
Entitled It’s About Time! the program will feature choral music from the 18th through the 21st centuries, including pieces exploring the themes “Times of Day”, “Times of the Year”, and “A Time to Live and a Time to Die”. Other highlights of the program include vocal jazz, American folksongs, spirituals, and two original choral works by the choirs’ conductor, Philip Spencer. In addition to the approximately 65 student and community singers, the concert will also feature faculty and student soloists.
Tickets for the Masterwork Concert, available at the door one hour before the performance, are $5 general, $4 students and seniors, and $2 JJC students. The community is welcome. For more information, contact the Fine Arts Office at (815) 280-2223.
