Over the past six years as Organist-Choirmaster of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Pittsburgh I have composed several works for this small choir (16 voices, with three paid scholars) and now we are putting on a concert of the best of this music.
Texts include: four Spiritual settings (Glory, glory; Wade in the Water; Steal Away; Swing Low); a lyrical Psalm 23; a grand setting of “Rise up, my love” from the Song of Solomon; Words of Job (“O, that my words were written down…”); Adam lay ybounden; Draw us in the Spirit’s Tether; and more.
This is a free, one-hour concert with a choir of about 24 people. It will be recorded and for those interested, you can receive the recording with a donation to our church’s Friends of Music fund. A festive reception follows. For more information please visit www.nathancarterette.com
