Elmhurst Choral Union and Orchestra present great American poetry set by great American composers on Sunday, April 29 at 3:00 p.m. in Hammerschmidt Chapel on the campus of Elmhurst College.
Walt Whitman, Robert Frost, Thomas Jefferson, and traditional Latin texts provide the inspiration for music by Howard Hanson, Randall Thompson, and Morten Lauridsen.
The ensemble will perform Hanson’s “Song of Democracy”, Thompson’s “Frostiana” and “The Testament of Freedom”, and Lauridsen’s “Lux Aeterna”.
Elmhurst Choral Union is joined by a professional orchestra under conductor Scott Uddenberg.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $23 for seniors and $10 for youth (7-22). Tickets are available from elmhurstchoralunion.org , 800-838-3006, or at the door.
Elmhurst Choral Union is an outstanding auditioned chorus performing classical masterworks and great choral music of all eras. The concert is funded in part by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency.
