Discover emerging talent in new choral writing & conducting and celebrate the end of our first 10 years at our post-concert after-party!
If you are a fan of brand-new music created in an intensive and nurturing environment that encourages risk-taking, attending one of these free concerts is one of the most exciting music experiences one can have in New York City.
After 7 days of development, revisions and lab work, Choral Chameleon’s singers will premiere brand-new pieces that have been composed by 10 students of highly diverse musical backgrounds and career stages. These pieces will be performed by our professional Ensemble lab choir and conducted by Vince Peterson and Matt Oltman, from the Institute faculty. This year a number of composers are working with Berlin-based trumpeter, and new music specialist, Nathan Plante – to create pieces for choir with solo trumpet accompaniment.
In our history, many of these pieces have subsequently entered our repertoire and some have been included in our retrospective programming in this anniversary year.
The new works will be interspersed with existing works of choral repertoire, performed by our larger volunteer Chorus lab choir, which will be conducted by our 4 talented student conductors.
The concert will be followed by a special 10th Anniversary Cake Ceremony with complimentary prosecco and beer from Brooklyn Brewery.
All are welcome to join the celebration.
