As it closes out its nineth season, the Hudson Valley Chorale has chosen to present a program in keeping with the nation’s marking of Memorial Day. Featured selections will include Gabriel Fauré’s gentle and moving “Requiem” in the first half, followed by Ralph Vaughan Williams’ stirring setting of one of Walt Whitman’s metaphysical poems, “Toward the Unknown Region.” The chorale will be under the baton of its artistic director, Michael Wittenburg and accompanied by Michael Haigler on piano and organ, along with guest instrumentalists, Barbara Allen on harp and Nivi Ravi on violin. Ms. Ravi will also appear as soprano soloist in the beloved “Pie Jesu” movement of the Requiem.
Come and honor those who gave their all so that this nation might live.
