Now Open: 39th Annual Choral Composition Contest
Encouraging the creation of new choral music for more than three decades, the 39th Annual Choral Composition Contest is now accepting entries.
The Robert Campbell ’40, M.S. ’50, Endowed Choral Composition Prize will be awarded to the first place winner in the annual Choral Composition Festival. Winners of first and second place will also be awarded the following cash prizes:
• First Place – $1200
• Second Place – $700
Winners will be announced at the 39th annual Choral Composition Festival Concert Choral Composition Festival on November 11, 2017.
• Finalists are required to be present at the performance of their work. Ithaca College will reimburse travel expenses up to a maximum of $300; lodging and food are the responsibility of the finalists.
Sponsored by Ithaca College School of Music and Mark Foster Publishing (a division of Hal Leonard). This competition is open to all composers with the exception of Ithaca College faculty, staff and students.
Applications must be postmarked by Deadline: August 25, 2017

I notice the guidelines say the piece must be appropriate for public school. Does this mean NO mention of “God” or “Lord”, even if it is a generalized reference (i.e., no particular faith/denomination/belief system)? Most public schools I’ve worked with are able to use religious texts anyway, but I live in the south 🙂
