In collaboration with the Kennedy Center, Classical Movements is proud to announce a joint partnership celebrating the centennial of President Kennedy’s birth with a grand choral celebration of Kennedy’s legacy by inviting choirs from countries that have benefited from the work of the Peace Corps, as well as select choirs from the U.S. and abroad. Classical Movements, as part of its Eric Daniel Helms New Music Program, will commission composers from these visiting choirs’ countries to create new choral works in the spirit of President Kennedy’s legacy promoting international peace and diplomacy. This celebration will be incorporated within the Serenade! Washington Choral Festival which is scheduled for June 27-July 4th (with daily performances at the Kennedy Center June 28-July 3).

•Multiple new commissions by the Eric Daniel Helms New Music Program, all to be premiered at the Kennedy Center
•Daily performances at the Kennedy Center Millennium stage and in prestigious venues in the greater Washington, DC communities
•All participating choirs will converge at the Kennedy Center’s Concert Hall for a large-scale massed choir concert conducted by Joshua Habermann
•Peace Corp mission theme promoting international peace and diplomacy
•Festival is part of Kennedy Center’s year-long jubilee celebrating President John F. Kennedy’s Centennial
Choirs must submit their application by June 1, 2016 to be consider for this event and a selection process will follow.
