LENOX, MA. — The Cantilena Chamber Choir will present a concert called New Sounds a Cappella on Sunday, March 25, at 3p.m. at the Pittsfield Intermodal center. Special guests include the Berkshire Community College Choir.
New Sounds A Cappella is a collaborative performance by the Cantilena Chamber and the Berkshire Community College choirs to introduce new and innovative a cappella music to the general public in an unconventional performance venue. The wonderful acoustics of the Intermodal center’s lobby lends itself perfectly to both “classical” and also contemporary music (yet more sophisticated than typical college a cappella) with an appeal to a general audience. The Choir will venture into new territory- Indie pop- with Chanticleer’s hit Cells Planets and a special arrangement of Hyena’s Anyone’s Guess. Special guest Krishan Oberoi, director of San Diego’s famous Sacra/Profana choir that specializes in this repertoire will conduct portions of the program.
Admission is free thanks to a grant from the Pittsfield Cultural Council an area businesses. The Intermodal center is at 1 Columbus Avenue in Pittsfield. More information: www.cantilenachoir.org. Phone: 518-791-0185 or email .
