Polyhymnia Chamber Chorus, under the direction of Steven Beck, will be performing January 20, 21, 27 and 28, as follows: Saturday, January 20, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 4900 Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, DC (8:00 p.m.); Sunday, January 21, North Bethesda United Methodist Church, 10100 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD (2:30 p.m.); Saturday, January 27, Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 1125 Savile Lane, McLean, VA (8:00 p.m.); and Sunday, January 28, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 301 A Street SE, Washington, DC (2:30 p.m.). The program includes 19th century Partsongs by Charles Villiers Stanford; Carlos Chavez’s ‘Three Nocturnes’; reflections on World War I by Rachmaninoff, Ravel and Vaughan Williams; Renaissance renderings of the Magi; and a selection from the operetta ‘Candide’ (1956) to celebrate the Leonard Bernstein Centennial. Each performance will be followed by a light reception.
