Rosephanye Powell, Composer-in-Residence
INDIANAPOLIS –Music for All presents Dr. Rosephanye Dunn Powell as Composer-In-Residence during the Music for All National Choir Festival, March 12-14, 2020 in Indianapolis. During the festival, Dr. Powell will rehearse and conduct her own composition with the Music for All National Choir.
Powell is acclaimed as one of America’s leading women composers of choral music. Her compositions include sacred and secular music for all voicings. She serves as the Charles W. Barkley Endowed Professor and Professor of Voice at Auburn University. She is celebrated as a guest conductor and clinician of state and regional honor choirs, and as an accomplished vocalist, travels internationally to solo, present song demonstrations, and provide lectures. Her research has focused on the art of the African-American spiritual, the art songs of William Grant Still, and voice care for professional singers.
The Music for All National Choir Festival is a non-competitive experience for middle school, high school, and youth choirs of any voicing. The festival is a celebration of musical excellence combining world-class performance and evaluation opportunities with an exhilarating atmosphere of camaraderie in music.
