Star of the East (SATB): Pre-publication offer
“Star of the East” is a new setting of Reginald Heber’s Epiphany poem, “Brightest and Best of the Sons of the Morning.” Written originally for a Cathedral Choir in Trondheim, it has also been performed by the CBSO Chorus in Birmingham and the LSO Chorus in London, and in the USA.
It is reflective in character, underlining the beauty of the poetry:
‘Say, shall we yield Him, in costly devotion,
Odors of Edom and offerings divine?
Gems of the mountain and pearls of the ocean,
Myrrh from the forest, or gold from the mine?’
Recently accepted for publication by the Oxford University Press early next year, it is currently self published, and obtainable from Swirly Music (instant download) or Sheet Music Plus. For further details, see newcarols.com.
