Taconic Opera invites experienced choral singers to collaborate on an upcoming performance of the VERDI REQUIEM with the Taconic Opera chorus and orchestra. Applications will be accepted during the months of November and December 2018. Those who have performed this masterpiece before don’t need to be told how powerful an experience it is; those who haven’t won’t want to miss the opportunity. The program will be conducted by the company’s General Director, Dan Montez, an experienced conductor and composer. Performance dates/locations are: Saturday, March 30, 2019, 3 pm, Ossining United Methodist Church; and, Sunday, March 31, 2019, 3 pm, White Plains Presbyterian Church.
Only singers with solid choral experience and able to read music are requested to consider this invitation. No membership fees are required, but singers must acquire their own score (Schirmer version). If requested, assistance in securing a score will be provided. All voice parts are welcome, particularly men.
Rehearsal schedule: Starting Wednesday, January 2, 2019, 7:00-9:00. Future rehearsals are on Saturdays from 3-5 pm and Wednesdays from 7-9 pm. Because of the complexity of the piece, overall attendance is required (a few missed rehearsals may be acceptable and can be discussed in advance). Mandatory dress rehearsal with orchestra: Friday, March 29, 2019, 7 pm in Ossining. In addition to rehearsals, chorus members will need to spend some time on their own working on the music. Rehearsals take place at the Cortlandt School of Performing Arts, 24 Old Albany Post Road/Route 9, Croton-on-Hudson, NY.
Anyone with interest in pursuing this opportunity or who has additional questions can contact Mary Corda at or by calling (914) 649-1826. Complete information about Taconic Opera can be found on its website, www.TaconicOpera.org.
