Music on the Hill opens its fall concert season with the Festival Chorus performing “The Power of Song” with artistic directors David H. Connell and Ellen Dickinson.
This is an uplifting program of stylistically diverse musical selections –from English madrigals to Sweet Honey In The Rock. Selections include “The Last Words of David” by Randall Thompson; “In Commendation of Music,” by Eugene Butler; “Breaths” by Yasye Maria Barnwell of Sweet Honey In The Rock; “Armistice 1918” by Craig Carnahan, a setting of a poem by Siegfried Sassoon; and “Zion’s Walls” by Aaron Copland. Performed in the visually stunning Unitarian Church in Westport, this concert is sure to move and inspire.
“The Power of Song” begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, at the Unitarian Church in Westport, 10 Lyons Plains Road, Westport, CT. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door; students are free. Order online at musiconthehillCT.org or phone 203-529-3133.

Music on the Hill promotes engagement with music by offering workshops, a Summer Sings series, and opportunities to perform through four ensembles — Summer Chorus, Festival Chorus, Chamber Chorus, and the Jubilate Ringers handbell choir — all led by artistic directors David H. Connell (D.M.A.) and Ellen Dickinson (M.M.).
Music on the Hill, based in Wilton, is an independent non-profit organization dedicated to high-quality music performance and education for all ages. It is funded by generous donors and by a grant from the CT Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
