Choral Singers Needed for Workshop in Sicily in 2019
UMBRIAN SERENADES is a unique 12 day choral & cultural summer program that brings together avid choral enthusiasts, dedicated amateurs and professionals alike, who strive for choral excellence. These “SERENADERS” seek opportunities to perform exquisite choral repertoire spanning from the Renaissance up through the 21st century, in art-filled and unique venues throughout the off-the- beaten-path regions of Europe, spending time in charming historic towns with other likeminded choral singers and leading professional choral conductors in the field. DAVID HAYES of New York Choral Society, Mannes School of Music, and Curtis School of Music, returns as guest conductor.
UMBRIAN SERENADES choral participants and their travel companions also taste and savor what the local region offers culturally, be it art, architecture, history, local foods, wines, and so forth, through tours with travel specialists and licensed guides, special organized meals, cultural events, wine tastings, etc. KAREN LA ROSA of La RosaWorks Sicily Tours & Travel will be with the group of 2019 participants.
This unique program was designed with the culturally inclined and discerning choral singers in mind who enjoy travel, performing, and life-transforming cultural experiences. The program began in Spoleto, Umbria, Italy, in the summer of 2006, spent two summers in the Castile & Leon region of Spain in 2017-18, and will now take place in NOTO, SICILY, a town considered to be the jewel of Sicilian Baroque architecture, in the summer of 2019 (June 23-July 4). The program will visit and perform in NOTO, SIRACUSA, CATANIA/RAGUSA, MODICA, and also visit a winery on the slopes of MT. ETNA.
