Constellation Men’s Ensmeble seeks tenors and basses
CME is seeking both tenors and basses to fill open positions in the ensemble for the coming year. We are heading into our fifth anniversary season, and are looking forward to programs in October, December, March, and May, as well as a studio recording in January, and educational engagement opportunities throughout the year.
Auditions will be held on June 29th from 7:30-10pm. All auditions will take place at Church of the Atonement in Edgewater (5749 N Kenmore Ave, Chicago, IL 60660). Singers should prepare one classical art song or aria, and one decidedly non-classical selection (music theater, jazz, pop). These pieces should showcase the singer’s technical proficiency and stylistic versatility. A pianist will be provided. At the audition, expect to sight read, vocalize, and sing prepared excerpts with current members.
Please submit your resume to firstname.lastname@example.org to request an audition. You will be notified to complete a GoogleForm if granted an audition. We look forward to meeting you!
Candidates should be finishing or have completed their music studies and have a passion for a large range of choral music— from traditional to avant-garde. We schedule our rehearsals around each project, so strong sight-reading skills and solid vocal technique are required. Stylistic versatility and comfort singing straight tone is expected. Professionalism, positivity, passion, and brotherhood are essential to ensure our continued success.
About Constellation Men’s Ensemble
We are a community of professional singers, music educators, and gentlemen who find joy in sharing music with Chicagoland and beyond. We are always looking for new ways to reach a larger audience and pursue our musical mission of exceptional music making, diverse programming, and spreading passion and appreciation for choral music. We engage our community through music education and have enjoyed leading workshops for Chicago Public Schools during our seasons. Performing for, collaborating with, and mentoring these students is our way of fostering the next generation of singers, and encouraging young men and women to find their voice.
Singers will receive stipends for all performances and participation in workshops. Rehearsals depend on the commitment and volunteered time of the members. No dues are required for membership.
