We have 15mins to fill at a festival of contemporary music.
I have 2 choirs, 1 is SSAATTBB, the other a Man choir, TTBB.
Both are unauditioned but used to a challenge & singing ‘proper’ choral vocal ranges.
Particularly looking for contrast & originality.
Any ideas?September 22, 2017 at 2:38 pm #542713

You might want to take a look at my own collection called “Modern Living.” The pieces are fun and the lyrics are about our weird contemporary world. I’ve had a lot of success with them in festivals. They are available for free download from http://www.graymichael.com
Hope that helps!

For your SSAATTBB group, I’d recommend three songs from my “Scotland at Night” suite: “Simmer Dim in Shetland”, “Trout loch” and “Lullaby”, all are in eight parts. You can see and hear a performance at
and you read more about the set at

Sam, I just completed SATB a cappella piece with sacred text re story of Abraham ‘s offering to sacrifice his son. About 3 minutes, in ABACA form. Tonal harmonies. Let me know if interested, I can forward a PDF score for perusal. Bill SherrillSeptember 22, 2017 at 2:39 pm #542739
I have a piece that might be of interest to you!
I was commissioned to write this piece by the Young New Yorkers’ Chorus (as one of the winners of their annual composition contest.)
The piece, “The Hushed House,” is a setting of Madison Julius Cawein’s tragic love poem. (And I believe the only existing setting of this text.) It uses some contemporary notation, vocal techniques, and harmonies, and mixes them with their traditional counterparts throughout.
You can view the score and listen to a recording here at Music Spoke:
Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions or want to chat about the piece!

I have a few pieces I hope you’ll consider for your program.
“If Ever There Is” – a wish for peace
“Heaven” – a meditation on the after-life
“Coney Island” – a melancholy, wintry relationship text
“All The Whiskey In Heaven” – despite the title, a love song
All scores can be viewed and listened to here:
Each of the scores listed above have won awards for composition, and have texts by accomplished poets. Thanks. Wishing you the best putting together your program.

I can think of several items in my catalog which might suit your requirements. If you will send me a mailing address I would be happy to send you a small packet of octavos to consider.

My name is Scott Fields Davis. I am a self-publishing composer. I would like to invite you to visit my website, compositionsbyscottfieldsdavis.com. All of the pieces there are Unaccompanied. I only have a few TTBB compositions, but the TTBB piece I am most proud of is “The Return of Spring”. Just let me know if you find anything of interest and I will gladly give it to you.
