I’m creating a contract for my auditioned choir. I have a few members that are absent from school a lot that have been a member this past year. This is the first year I’ve had an auditioned choir and a non-auditioned choir.
I’m looking for suggestions for my contract to make attendance a criteria for being placed in the auditioned choir.

Hi Jennifer! With high school singers, I obviously have an idea of my expectations, but I have found that the contract means much more if the ideas are coming from students. I would recommend dedicating part of a rehearsal or retreat when everyone is present to brainstorming contractual guidelines, and then distilling all the ideas into themes, and specific criteria everyone can agree to. You may even find yourselves developing consequences together. In the past, they have signed the bottom of the finalized contract and returned it to me. Best of luck!!
