Steven L. BellParticipant
Thanks to the help of several on this list, my program of
music from Video Games, Cartoons and Animation is coming along
quite well. The music breaks down into the following
Animated films (When You Wish Upon a Star, Beauty and the
Beast, The Circle of Life, Somewhere Out There, Seal Lullaby)
TV Animation (The Flintstones, The Simpsons)
Video Games (Super Mario Brothers, Final Fantasy VII/One
Winged Angel, Civilization IV/Baba Yetu, Sonic Adventure/Escape
From the City)
And I will also be adding an Anime song.
There is one category that is missing, and for that I need your
Early cartoons were accompanied by public domain classical
music (Kill da wabbit, kill da wabbit!) and I would like to
have us perform a piece that was associated with this early
animation. Pieces that come to mind are: Bizet – The Ball
(Children’s Games), Liszt – Friska from Hungarian Rhapsody #2, the
William Tell Overture, and obviously Wagner – Ride of the
Walkures. What I am looking for is a classical piece that has
lyrics that are not of a “parody” nature. I have two pieces
on the program (Mario & Simpsons) that are just sung on ‘scat’
syllables, and although they are effective arrangements the chorus
doesn’t need another one set to classical music.
Can you suggest (or offer) arrangements of “Classical
Cartoon” music that has words?
Thank you for your help!
