I’m looking for any pieces that have to do with dreams, sleep, night, stars, moon, etc.
As always, anything that can be drawn into that theme such as visions, heaven, etc. would be great and would help to diversify the program! I especially need some more upbeat music as most dream-related music is slow…
My choirs sing SATB (div.), SSA/SSAA, SA, TB, TTB/TBB
So far I have:
“Hold Fast to Dreams” (LaBarr)
“Stars I Shall Find” (Johnson) TB
“Lullaby” (Elder) SSA or SATB?
Thanks for the help!!

You might consider these pieces about Dreams:
Bach: Gute nacht, o wesen (fm Jesu Meine Freude) -SSAT
Barber: Sure on this shining night -SATBpn
Brahams: In schone nacht -SATBpn
Byrd: Let not the sluggish sleep -SATB
Dowland: Weep you no more -SATB
Delaney: Night (Cantata) -SATBpn
Ease, Michael: Hence stars -SSATB
Faure: Clair de lune -unison & pn
Finzi: All this night -SATB
Foster: Beautiful dreamer -SATB
Handel: Break his bands of sleep asunder (fm Alexander’s Feast) –SATBpn (and trumpet!)
MacDowell: Brook -SATB
Monteverdi: Ecco mormorar l’onde -SSATB
Morley: You black bright stars -SAATB
Sitton: Prairie waters by night -SATB
Thompson, R: Choose something like a star -SATBpn
Tomkins: Fusca in thy starry eyes -SSATB
Wilbye: Draw on sweet night –SSAATB
While you are at it, consider looking at my own
–His foot on the treetop (TTB),
–Not from the stars (SABpn), &
–Sky can still remember (SABpn).
The last piece is available through G. Schirmer but the other two can be had for free at http://www.graymichael.com
Hope that helps!
