We are seeking music for mixed choir and wind ensemble (winds, not brass) – quintet, quartet or trio. Ideally it should be by an American composer, but we’re not fussy.
Jean Françaix wrote “Paris, à nous Deux!” – a wonderful chamber opera with choral narration, solos, and (ready for this?) all of it accompanied by a saxophone quartet! The work (in French, of course) is a 1954 spoof on solon life and is such a hoot! Performances are pretty rare but it really deserves to be better known.
Hope that helps!
