I am looking for pieces for full orchestra and chorus (community group) on the them of stars/outer space. Any genre is on the table – serious classical, film/pops, jazz standards, etc. No suggestion is too obvious or too obscure. 🙂 What have you heard or performed that you loved? Many thanks, friends!July 5, 2016 at 4:45 pm #518008

If you don’t mind splitting the chorus, you could do Holst’s “Neptune” (from “The Planets”) with just the females and Stravinsky’s “Svesdolikia” (“King of Stars”) with just the males.
Hope that helps!

For such a question, there is a gold mine to explore : Musica database (www.musicanet.org)
Use the “More criteria” search form, and input “star” in the Keywords or… field, and orchestra in the Instrumentation field => 76 answers!

Written as a tribute to the crew of Challenger, Michael Omer’s ‘To the Stars’ is for choir and brass.

I have a piece, “Morning Star”, for SATB choir and wind orchestra (could be re-scored for full orchestra) – commissioned by Wartburg College – info online here:
