I’ve recently recorded material for a CD and find that some tracks suffered badly from loss of pitch. Ignoring the obvious answers (do it again, then) can anyone recommend a pitch shifting plug in/program which doesn’t produce artefacts (distortions to the sound)?
The type I’m looking for is one which will cure a gradual loss of pitch over a 3 – 4 minute piece, rather than one which will transpose an entire track.
One of the best I’ve tried is “Audacity” – their Sliding Time Scale/Pitch Shift effect – but these pesky artefacts still poke their heads above the parapet.
I’ve tried a Protools version which is less effective.

Garage Band has an “Auto-tune” feature. It can be adjusted so that it doesn’t sound too robotic. However, My experience with it, is that it CAN, adjust to the wrong pitch if it’s flat enough. Software adjusts to the nearest pitch, so if it’s closer to a half step below, it will tune it to a half step below.
