I’m looking for guidance as to procedures for dissolution of a community choir in Canada that is neither incorporated, nor has a charitable status.
There is a Board of Directors, and a membership that pays tuition to enrol in the choir each year. Our Artistic Director is relocating, the Board will be stepping down once we meet all financial obligations. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Normally, this sort of thing would be addressed in an organization’s by-laws, Given your status, though it seems as simple as the Board (or the entire membership, if that’s how you normally operate) adopting a resolution to disband, and to discontinue all activities as of a specified date. You might need to check with a lawyer or accountant to verify what to do with any assets.
