Join Acappellago in a journey around the globe, with songs of travel and destinations far and near. The call of the ocean, the open road, the train whistle in the night, the flowing river… no matter where you want to go or how to get there…
Taking the guided tour will transport you to many outstanding places-both familiar and exotic. There will be songs about the planning, the anticipation, and how the trip will happen, such as on a train, boat, or plane. On the trip, you’ll walk “The Sidewalks of New York,” check out “How are Things in Glocca Morra,” see the plains of “Africa,” and jump “On a Slow Boat to China.” We’ll hop on another ship to survey the excitement of “South Australia.” stroll through “Punjabi Market,” and sigh about “The Girl from Ipanema.” There will be more stops included, such Acapulco, Hawaii, Texas, and the beautiful, spacious skies of the Rocky Mountains. We will return you home refreshed and spiritually uplifted!
Acappellago, now in its 17th season, is the western suburbs’ leading volunteer a cappella chorus, and is known for its eclectic programming that spans classical music, jazz, pop, and gospel under the direction of Maestro Dennis R. Smith, who founded the group in 2002. As part of this program, we are honored to present three world premieres from local composers: Douglas Lieberman of Villa Park and our own chorus member, William Masloske.
