I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say – Tallis, arr. Ward

October 20, 2014 by John Ward Leave a Comment

I’ve just posted my new SATB divisi arrangement of the Horatius Bonar hymn “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say” at http://www.wardsattic.com/music.  Direct link to the PDF score is here.  The tune is Tallis’ “Third Mode Melody” (used by Ralph Vaughan Williams in his “Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis”).  This arrangement is intended to be sung a cappella but does contain a piano reduction that could be used.  The text is suitable for a choir anthem in a Christian worship service, but probably not appropriate for public school choirs.

In memory of my wife, I’m releasing the arrangement for copy and performance free of charge provided that copies contain the complete score.  A version for men’s voices alone is in the works and will also be available free of charge.
