Since its inception in 2013, over 100 participants from across North America have attended the HCCI for an intensive week of choral conducting study. With an equal focus on gesture, pedagogy, and musicianship, the HCCI addresses the real-life work of the choral conductor, and in an environment that values both inclusivity and excellence.
HCCI Program Distinctives:
Daily Dalcroze Eurhythmics sessions
Daily score study/conducting sessions
Vocal pedagogy sessions
Daily conducting masterclasses with the HCCI Chorus
Sing in the HCCI Chorus! All conductors also sing!
This year, for the first time, The HCCI offers a streamed program. Option A is designed for all levels of conductors (registration closes May 1, 2016). Option B is designed for intermediate/advanced conductors (registration closes May 1, 2016). Admission to Option B is competitive, and will most certainly fill up before the deadline – please apply early!
From Renaissance to 21st century, the 2016 HCCI repertoire features music by Montavano, Palestrina, Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn, Willan, Barber, Dilworth, and a selection of Canadian folk songs!
